Have a LinkedIn account?  Check.

Have any idea how to use it to find sales leads?  Probably not.

I know the feeling.  You’re responsible in some way, shape or form for finding new sales leads.  You need to find people that want or need what you have to offer.  What are you currently doing to find them?  I’m pretty sure I’ve tried almost every tool out there, and I dare you to find me a tool that gives you the power to generate and craft a better list of targeted leads than LinkedIn.  The real problem will be finding the time to follow up with all of them!  I’ll let you figure out that problem 🙂  So what are these top 3 ways to fill your funnel?  I thought you’d never ask!

1) Advanced Search

Take a look at this picture below.  Follow the arrow to the promised land!

Click that “Advanced” link.  If you have never used it, your world is about to change.  In this advanced search area, you can actually type in the title of the person you are looking for, the company the person works for, or even their location based on their zip code (and several more).  You can have fun with this one.  You will find some combinations work better than others.  Get creative using keywords that your perfect prospect might have in their profiles!

2) Introductions From Common Connections

If you hate cold calling, this will be your new favorite technique.

If I wanted to connect with Cindy McDonnel, I’m in luck.  I have 2 shared connections with her.  That means 2 people that are my 1st level, direct connections, are also connected to Cindy.  But how do I make that happen Adam?  Glad you asked…  I’ve found the most effective way to do that is to reach out to my common connections (Chad and/or Michele in this case), either on LinkedIn, email or over the phone and say something like this:  “Hi Chad!  I’m planning on reaching out to Cindy McDonnel this week.  I happened to notice you are a connected to her on LinkedIn.  Would you be open to introducing the two of us?  No problem if you aren’t able to…like I said, I was planning on reaching out to her either way, but we all know a warm connection is better than a cold one.”  No one likes to feel obligated to do something, or feel like a crutch.  By doing it this way, you’re giving them an opportunity to help you instead.  Everyone likes to help, so this usually works very well.  If you think about it, that’s basically what LinkedIn is all about.

3) Saved Searches

Wouldn’t it be great if LinkedIn was your own personal lead delivery service?  It can be….using saved searches.

With the free version of LinkedIn, you can save up to 3 searches.

After you have applied step 1, (if you haven’t, try it!) there’s a good chance you have a list that you really like.  Just click the “Save Search” link.  You can name the search whatever you want, and then select either monthly or weekly for your alerts.  From that point on, anyone new that meets your search parameters, that wasn’t on your original list, will come directly to your email.  Free delivery!

Put these 3 strategies to use today, and you will have a sales funnel that’s too big to handle!  Trust me, it’s a better problem to have than and empty funnel.

Lions Share Maintenance is looking for a entry level Window Cleaner and Pressure Washing Technician.

All of our uniformed crews leave from our facility in Little Canada, in company trucks, with company provided tools needed to get the jobs done.

They travel all over the Twin Cities Metro Area cleaning windows and gutters at residential customers’ homes inside and out as well as large multi-unit buildings and associations.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
– Traveling with a coworker – window/gutter cleaner in company trucks to customers’ homes and commercial properties. No storefront routes. All commercial work is large scale.
– Cleaning windows in a safe and professional manner according to the techniques learned during training.

No High Rise. We do not “Drop” from buildings

Expectations:
– Following instructions given by office manager
– Relaying all job related issues to the office manager
– Keeping your coworker on task and getting jobs completed on time and to company quality standard

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
– 18 years or older
– Able to start by 7:00AM if needed
– Able to work MondayFriday
– Manual Dexterity
– Required to kneel, reach, climb and balance
– Fearless of heights. Ladder work is a necessity. Must feel comfortable on 24′ and 32′ ladders.

COMPENSATION

How to build your professional brand

Personal branding is an elusive topic to most people, yet it is important for career success. Wise professionals with career success know it can mean the difference between landing that dream job and never getting noticed.

So what do you think of when you hear the word “professional brand?” Simply stated, a brand is a promise of the value you’ll deliver. “You may think you don’t need a brand, but the reality is that you already have one,” says Jana Fallon, vice president, Executive Development for Prudential Financial. “By managing that professional reputation you already have, you increase your chances of being known for qualities that can land your dream job or get you noticed by a company you have always wanted to work. If you do start actively managing your brand, you can find real power in knowing and sharing what your unique differentiators are.”

Fallon recommends five specific actions you can take today to improve your brand reputation.

B = Build

Build your brand by first defining what you want that brand to be. To make this simpler, it should include no more than three or four characteristics that describe what you offer or aspire to offer. It is good to be aspirational but it also must be realistic. If you are having trouble getting started, begin by asking people you trust what they immediately associate with you. Ask for honest feedback and listen to what you hear.

R = Reflect

Reflect on your strengths and liabilities frequently. What is the unique value that you have to offer and what do you aspire to be? Think about your strengths and what you do really well. What do you want to be known for in business? What differentiates you? Use those reflections to establish your unique brand. Perhaps you want to be known as a very curious, engaged consultant. Or perhaps your unique brand is one of intelligence, candor and strong ethics.

A = Actions speak

In order to sustain your brand, you have to act accordingly. Your behaviors and the decisions you make daily impact your brand. Be bold in defining your brand and then have the courage to live up to that brand promise. If you are finding it challenging to start living your brand, find someone that has a style, behavior or an approach that you admire. Emulate what works. Try it yourself and see if it feels right for you. Experiment until you find your own authentic behavior.

N = Network nonstop

To get others to recognize your brand, you have to market yourself. This clearly takes time and effort, but it can be done effectively if you follow these key steps. To share your brand, network in the organization you work in, outside work with other professional contacts and in your community. Make yourself visible to those that can influence your career.

The key to a successful professional brand is having strong “word-of-mouth marketing” from friends, coworkers, customers and other contacts. Having a strong brand means finding ways to network and manage what those contacts know and then say to others about your capabilities.

D = Decide today

“Decide to make managing your professional brand a priority,” Fallon says. “Carve out time each week to fine tune and evolve your defined brand. Make time to reflect and try out new behaviors and to expand your network. There is real power in knowing where you are focused and letting others know for what you aspire to be known.”
